Comenity dropped CL

So, we had made all payments on time since we opened the acct in 08/15 to Comenity, in Jan I was off for my job for 2 weeks ( I work for the school system) We had snow days and winter break, so , no pay. We went 30 days late in Feb, but got back on track in March, orginal CL was 8k, of which we had 2k in debt to keep uti low, they lowered the CL to the balance! now UTI is out the roof. What can I do? Is this normal?

Re: Comenity dropped CL

I assume Comenity is looking at your profile as a risky one and they might be balance chasing you. Nothing you can do other than keep zero balance and hope that they give you CLI.

Re: Comenity dropped CL

I've heard a lot of negative things on this forum regarding Comenity closing accounts and/or in your case decreasing CL in the last few weeks; mainly the Visa and Mastercard sigs. You can do a search on here and the many stories will pop up. I received a prequalifed mailing yesterday for a Sportsman's visa and it was shredded. I have three store cards with them so I'm waiting to see how that goes.

Re: Comenity dropped CL

Compared to V/MC cards they are far more lenient with store cards but nothing is guaranteed

Re: Comenity dropped CL

Mine was with a store card, not a V/Mc

Re: Comenity dropped CL

Possibilities:

DTI too high, balances growing on cards (not just this specific card discussed), making minimum payments too long, more derogs showing on CR, actively seeking credit (HPs) with high balances resulting in AR/AA.

Re: Comenity dropped CL

Unfortunately not much you can do other than keep paying it down or possibly balance transfer it to another card with a higher limit if you have one.

Over time the effects of the 30 day late will weaken and things will get better.    You might even be able to goodwill removal of the 30 day late.

Keep your head up.   You can recover.  We all know how frustrating it can be to have a setback like this.

Yes, in your circumstance, is normal.  30 day late is BIG DEAL.

Re: Comenity dropped CL

Yep that sounds correct.Any late especially a 30 day late is very bad.Be glad they just reduced it instead of canceling.Great you are back on track and hopefully keep it that way.Send them a goodwill explaing situation and if this is only time you were ever late maybe they will remove. If not your other credit card lenders will see that late and could reduce you too at anytime.
