Convergent/Pay to delete?

Hey all! I have one more collection to tackle and I've been saving it for last. Convergent  Outsourcing for $1015.00. I've seen a couple of successful  stories but here's what I'm wondering  or really trying to get guidance  on.

If I pay it and ask for a PFD I'll  pay in full of course. I got the CEO's email to follow up if this happens(which I'm really hoping for) However  if I dont pay in full and settle  what would be the better option as far as credit reporting? Would it be better to settle  and take the loss on a PTD or is it better to PIF and not get the PTD if they refuse? Goals are house buying.  My scores have stopped moving and I'm thinking(praying and hoping) this will do the trick. As always, thanks for everyone always sharing and being helpful in these forums.

Re: Convergent/Pay to delete?

I don't have any experience with Convergent. But if you've read that they do pay for delete, I would call and ask them. If it's their policy to do a pfd, it doesn't matter whether or not you pif or settle. If they will not do the pfd or it's not stated on their website that it's their policy, I would say if you have the money pif. If it's going to put you in any kind of financial burden, where you may miss another payment, settle for less. Paying in full may look better if you try to goodwill the tl later on. Your mortgage UW will probably request that it be paid before you get a mortgage. It's always nice to get a pfd and that is usually the goal, but some companies won't budge on it. Good luck.

Re: Convergent/Pay to delete?

I don't remember but it didn't work. I ended up go to the original company Dish and filing a complaint with the BBB. I will say it took about 6 months from this original post for it to be taken care of and removed from my credit. I had all my notes, Bill's, name of representatives and fed ex tracking from where I turned in my equipment.

Re: Convergent/Pay to delete?

I am dealing with them on a Cox cable equipment return for $636.. they told me 1 they don't own the acct.

2 as per contract with customer..they can't PFD.

3 they won't stop reporting only report if paid off..as per customer agreement.

So good luck...I would deal with dish and leave Convergent alone..better odds

Re: Convergent/Pay to delete?

Hi, I'm so sorry I actually got these backwards. AT&T I had to fight with the BBB and got deleted through  AT&T. For convergent OC was DISH. I was able to work directly with DISH to get it removed. They would not give me a PTD but said they would. I trusted them because at that point I was just ready to be done with it .I wrote a post and I'll try to tag you in it. If not you can search my name. I ended up calling the Credit bureaus and telling them the debt was paid for or something and I was advised on here it might of been risky to do that. In the end it worked for me.
