Hello Everyone My husband has an account that was sent to collections by Cox Communications to Credit Control Corp. The balance is 168.00 (showing on his report. I can still log on to Cox website and pay them directly. How should I go about this? It is a fresh collection just from last month. So I know it is hurting his score. Please help
I don't see why you can't pay them directly. Hell, pay it, then send a letter to the CA asking for the removal of the account from the CRA's and enclose a paid receipt from Cox.

If cox isn't on there, just the collection agency I'd do the same thing.
I hope you have a better expereince with them than I did - they charged me for a remote I never had when I cancelled my service (had basic - no box no nothing but like 15 channels other than local).

I had this same thing a couple months ago and for nearly the same amount.
I called Cox and said I want to pay my past account in full. I had switched services about 90 days prior. THey took my payment than I asked if they would notify the collection agency and pull it back from them. They said "no problem". It took about 30 or 45 days and it was completely deleted from the credit bureaus. I also called the collection agency and they sent me a letter stating that the account was no longer a collection account. I didn't call the collection agency until about 3 weeks after I paid it in order to give Cox time to notify them.
I will do that thank you
