So I'm four months out of bankruptcy and credit one was my first unsecured card with a 300$ Limit. I also just got approved for DiscoverIT secured 200$ Limit , I used all of the credit limit from credit one last week and and i made a payment for the full amount this week right before the statment cut.I opened the creditOne app and it didn't let me log in and I got an email saying my account is closed because I used all the credit limit and that my payment didn't process because I gave them the wrong account number to my checking account.
so while the payment was processing it looked like my payment went through and the balance showed up as O$ so I used the card again and after a day the payment was rejected and now I'm 200$ over the limit and the account is closed just because my payment was rejected because I Accidentally entered the wrong account number. So long story short now my credit card utilization is over 250%. And my credit went from 578 to 545 because of all this. What should I do?
Pay the balance in full and move on.
Rejected payments (and then a subsequent over limit) are nothing trivial to lenders. It may have been a mistake on your part, but lenders aren't always forgiving with that mistake. A rejected payment is a rejected payment.
Have you called them yet to straighten this out? That would be my first step. I'm sure maxing out the card, paying with a non existant account, and then making another big charge caused a red flag somewhere in the system. If you look at it from their perspective, it might look like fraud.
Call them, fix the banking info, pay whatever you owe, and see if they'll reactivate the card.
Pay them and move on. Not worth asking for reinstatement. OTL and returned payments or insufficient are dealbreakers to lenders... For good reason!
Verify, double verify, and triple verify when entering bank info. Lenders don't consider that a valid excuse. They may once accept the mistake, but account will be internally red flagged.
I haven't even called yet to be honest, but I will pay them.
im not really concerned because I got the discoverIT card to build on.
still sucks that they closed my account because I entered my checking account number wrong.
so what happens next? Will they send it to collections if I don't pay right away?
I'd use the funds you had in the account to submit a payment with the correct account info and PIF. Once this is done, you MIGHT be able to get them to reinstate your account.
Regarding your question about them sending you to collections, it's highly unlikely as long as you pay, at minimum the OCL amount immediatley, and the remaining portion on time...this is assuming your payment made wasn't on the due date and then subsequently returned.
Best of luck going forward!

If you are fresh out of bankruptcy I would not even play around with guessing when they will send the account to collections. You intended to pay the $300 and I can only assume the $200 as well had the card remained intact, so I would pay it straight away.
Disco will SP your CRs and see this activity too and while they may not AA your secured card, and if your credit continues to remain in a declined state, that could severely affect your graduation to an unsecured card. I would not gamble with this one bit.
Good luck!

I'm confused. If you have the funds and actually intended to pay them, why the question about not paying right away? As I, and others have said, PIF and be done with them. Why risk any messing around, especially fresh out of BK?

1000000 x this ^^^^^^
You do NOT want to jeapordize Disco and she can spook easily. Pay off Credit 1 IN FULL NOW... don't apply for anything else until Disco graduates -- I learned that she is a very selfish wench and doesn't like to see a bunch of credit cards opened up after you opened your Discover card.
Keep your nose clean, use Disco and PIF every month and in 6 short months (though they won't seem short), you'll graduate, get your deposit back and get a 2K credit limit with a prime lender. Then you can tell Credit One to go F themselves as you move on to Capital One or Citi secured...
Good luck!
