I would not dispute this, its a closed positive account the fact that it states a DoFD is irrelevant it clearly shows 0 balance and states sold/transferred, bringing the status date current with an update now could very well end up in a Fico score drop.
Just thought of something, though. An OC is not actually required to REPORT a charge off when they do it, though they are required to charge off an account that is more than 180 days delinquent. I cannot tell from your picture if the account was 180 days past due or not. But if BoA *potentially* did a charge off and just never reported it to the CRA's, I would leave it alone as you may end up with a CO on the account.
Okay...I will leave it be.....thanks again!
I agree with Norman's logic.
A furnisher (OC or debt collector) is only required to report the DOFD once they have reported a charge-off or collection.
However, they are not precluded from reporting what could become the DOFD. If they do report, it is irrrelevant unless and until a CO or collection is also reported.
The definition of DOFD is pegged to first knowing that a CO or collection has been reported, as one then looks back to the first delinuency that immediately preceded that reporting in order to determine the legal DOFD.
For example, when an account in good standing becomes delinquent, that date could possibly become a DOFD if the OC does a CO or refers for collection.
Nothing prevetns its reporting at that time. That DOFD can remain of record until the account is brought back into good-standing, and a new first delinquency occurs.
The pattern then repeats, however reporing of DOFD will become mandatory if and when reproting of a charge-off or collection is made.
An account in good standing can have a reported DOFD, but that date will never become the DOFD that will be used to determine the exclusion date of a later reported CO or collection.
Leave it be until a CO or collection is reported. It is moot until that point.
