DV Process, what's next?

I'm new to this whole process, I have sent my DV letters off just waiting for responses.  My questions are:

1.  How long do they have to response? Is it 30 days?

2.  What if they don't respond? Do I send the CA another letter or do I send CRA a letter?

3. Is PFD the  next step, if validated?

4.  Last one, what letter do I send to OC if I want to settle with them?

Thanks for your help in advance,

They have NO time limit to respond. 1 day, week, year, whatever.  It only says that they must cease collection activities untill they do respond.

2.  What if they don't respond? Do I send the CA another letter or do I send CRA a letter?

You can: 1.Send another DV 2. Send a PFD 3. Pay them then send a GW

3. Is PFD the  next step, if validated?

That is what i would do.

4.  Last one, what letter do I send to OC if I want to settle with them?

Send them a PFD as well.

Re: DV Process, what's next?

Agree with TugChris,

Medical collection can to handled either way, by the "HIPAA or just like regular collections.

What I would do first is,call the OC and find out who owns the account.

accounts can be sold or assigned to(CA) collection agencies.

If assigned to a CA, that means the CA is only helping collecting the debt.

If this is the case, Pay the OC, have OC pull back the CA,that means...

most of the time the CA will not be able to report on your CR's.

Also if the CA is deleted, that will be one less negative on your CR.

If sold to a CA,send the CA a DV , if validates then send a PFD.

The OC must report a balance of $0.

An OC and only one CA .....Both can report the same time for the same debt.

Your CS will take a hit from the OC, and also from the CA.

To avoid the double hit to your CS, try as soon as you can to pay the OC,before the acct is sold.

I would suggest reading What Steps Do I Take DV? PFD?

Re: DV Process, what's next?

Thanks TugChris,

Just  a few more questions, I'm a newbie to this Smiley Happy  :

1. Since there is NO time limit, when should I write to CRA to have delete entry if no respond or verification?

2.  What would I have to send to CRA to have deleted if I sent DV letter to CAs?

3.  Is there a letter on here for 2nd DV letter to CAs?

Re: DV Process, what's next?

Thanks Lightnin,

So I can handle my Medical collection debt without using the HIPAA process because it is sooooooooooo confusing to me?  Plus I already just sent regular DV letters to them, this shouldn't mess me up?

Re: DV Process, what's next?

What do we do if the CA's do not validate? all I got was a letter with my name and address and the statues for many diffrent states? They did not include the OC, how they came about figuring what I owed, or anything along those lines! So what is the next step in the DV process?

Thanks

Re: DV Process, what's next?

1. Since there is NO time limit, when should I write to CRA to have delete entry if no respond or verification?

If thats what you want to do, I would wait at least 30 days.

2.  What would I have to send to CRA to have deleted if I sent DV letter to CAs?

Assuming you sent the letters CMRR??? I would mail them a dispute letter saying you dont beleive the account is yours and CA will not verify so you want it deleted. Send the 'green' card from the CMRR with that letter.

3.  Is there a letter on here for 2nd DV letter to CAs?

They cannot continue collection process untill they verify, so if they got one, I doubt a second would do any good anyways.
