ok I've asked about this before , but I realized that it's hurting me more than I realized. When I open up EX credit tracker, I have past medical collection that was from like 2012 or something. Anyway, I guess it has been bought by this darn Commonwealth and its been reporting since August---SO, on my "overview" of EX credit tracker, it shows the "time since late" as 5 months! Which would have been what commonwealth is reported as a date opened--AUG 2015. WHYYYYYYYYYY?????? if this was from 2012???? I've had no new collections in over 2 years!!! I really think this is the reason for my low score!!!!!!! Anything I can do???? I'm disputing with the BBB now since I can't confirm that this is actually mine until they send me something more specific (even though they're not required to--the lady said she would).....Even if it is valid, why is it showing Aug 2015???

Unfortunately, thats just the way the systems works. No, it isn't fair - very little about this system is "fair". You best option is to negotiate a PFD if the item is legitimate.
You dont have a date of delinquency with a debt collector.
Any collection is, by definition, on a delinquent debt.
The open date reported by the debt collector is only the date they received their collection authority.
The comment of time since delinquency is meaningless.
FICO views the reporting by the debt collector as an affirmance that the debt remains delinquent, not a new delinquency.
Scoring impact is due to having a debt that is updated to show that it is still delinquent, and not as reporting by the debt collector as a new "delinquency."
