I just got a letter today that says:
Dear Good Guy:
Our office has reviewed the above-referenced account and we have made the decision to discontinue our collection efforts.
Rest assured that any information regarding this account that was reported to the credit bureaus by this agency will be corrected.
Sincerely,
Evil Collection Agency
I checked my report with USAA credit monitoring yesterday and it was still showing this TL.So i wonder....

Yeah, it will take time to come off the report.. could be a couple days, could be a couple weeks.. maybe even 45 days.
But yeah, I have gotten those kinds of letters a handful of times, and they always were removed, so good work.

Thank you all for all the inputs. But if this evil CA couldn't validate, how can another one will if they just purchase the debt from a CA that couldn't validate?

Validating a debt isn't required to sell the debt..
The advantages of this, in my opinion, out weigh the negatives because if they resell the debt, you'll likely get a dunning and have a chance to settle the debt once and for all without it reporting again..
Or.. they could get the debt, not send a dunning and report, then you will have to battle a second time...
Or.. it could go away for good.. it is a crap shoot.. I would take it being removed over staying any day, regardless of the chance it will come back..
What CA? That sounds almost word for word my messaged from EOS-CCA

I agree with you scott, the CA is CMI.I wasn't expected it,i kinda took a shot in the dark with a combination of 1 2 3. Needless to say in happy, one down like 5 more derogs to go,sighs. : )
That is what CMI did to me. I sent a DV then they told me that they choosing not to pursue collection activities and consider this account closed. It was removed from my credit althought it took almost a month for EQ to have it removed. 3 months later another collections sent me a dunning notice asking for money. I sent a DV and haven't heard from them and they are not on my credit...now we will see what happens.
