My husband and I are finally facing our credit problems after basically six years of hiding from them. We are making progress, however this one just boggles my mind. My husband went enrolled at ITT for two classes in 2000. We had to move and he dropped the classes after about a month. So he understood he owed them for the $1600 or so in student loans. We were in really bad shape a few years ago and he defaulted. Well, in 07 they offset our tax return for about $1200 or so that was remaining. We were actually glad they did this and relieved to have it paid. Now that I am going over his credit report I see the gov is reporting unpaid student loans in the amount ot $6500. He called them and they said that was actually for the entire amount had he completed the whole year there. They send him to a different department. That department says he owes no more money and they need to send him elsewhere. He talks to like three different people who all say different things. This is alot of money we are talking about and it is hard to dispute what the government says. Anybody have a similar experience?
