Does Discover ever forgive a CO that has since been paid off? If I had an old Discover card that was close to falling off but recently paid it in full, no lesser settlement.
Hoping to grab a secured Discover to add as my 4th and final card. An old line of credit will be my fifth revolving line and an NFCU Pledge Loan is rounding out my installment loans.
I had a Discover charge off from back in 2008. In late 2021 I tried to get a Discover secured but they denied me. But in the summer of 2022 I went to the prequal site for Discover and they listed the secured as a card I was prequalified for. I was approved. Now today I see on my account that they have raised my balance by $1,000. I'm hoping that means it graduated to a unsecured card. I haven't heard from them yet. Looks like they held a grudge for 14 years.
Since you paid your charge off (I didn't) maybe they'll forgive sooner. Go check the prequal and see if anything comes up. It's a really solid secured card which includes the cash back match for the first year. That makes gas and restaurants 4% back by the end of year one. And everything else 2%.

It's only been some days. I'll probably wait til it hits all 3 bureaus too.
