Discover Secured Graduated! Data points was a doozy

Good morning!

Wanted to share my success with my secured discover card graduating with a not so perfect profile.

TLSmiley Very HappyR: Post bankruptcy, 300.00 secured card graduated to 1800.00 even with a few returned payments in the last 7 months

1. Filed Ch 7 June 2022

2. Discharged Oct 2022

3. Applied and received Secured Discover card with a 300.00 deposit Nov 2022

4. Used this card soooo much! All the way up to the 300.00, but always paid it  before statement cut date, not off, just paid it even if it was 100.00

5. In the 6 months, I had 3 payments return because I didn't transfer money to the correct bank on time. But when discover represented the payment, it went through.

6. My 7th statement cut 16 June 2023 and I woke up this morning to a 1800.00 limit! I haven't even received the congratulations email yet.

7. I fully did not expect it to graduate because I had 3 returned payments (the latest one being literally last month), so I didn't pay the balance before this statement ended so my deposit refund will only be 2.00!!!!  I read the forums and people were saying to check your discover account 3-4 days after the last statement cut and sure enough, mine did!

8. My FICO scores were: TransUnion - 604, experian -624, Equifax -612

9. I also have a credit one card, Target red card (credit) and this discover card, and a new truck reporting to my credit.

10. I have had no collections or late payments on any accounts post bankruptcy.

Congrats on the graduation 👨‍🎓  It's nice to see that Discover is still willing to work with a few payment oversights. 🤩

Congrats! Stay away from that thin line. Eventually they'll just close it.

Congrats on the graduation! Hoping for a similar story in the next 3 months when I reach 6 months on my secured Disco card. I would be elated with an $1800 CL! Nice work!

Re: Discover Secured Graduated! Data points was a doozy

Wow, returned payments and everything! Congrats!

I got the secured card and maxed it to $2500. I did some relationship building. My report still has a couple significant baddies and I had a Discover Card charge-off that dropped from my reports but I never paid it. Didn't know if it would help, but I opened checking and savings accounts, direct deposited part of my check into checking, used my cash-back debit card a lot, used my credit card as much as possible (yea 1st year cash back match) and paid my card via my checking account. I did get graduated on schedule with a $1K bump, but based on your experience, I guess non of that relationship-building stuff mattered, haha.
