Dispute letter or Goodwill letter? Newbie needs help!

Hello all,

This is my first post on this forum. I've been reading through the posts and I'm encouraged with the success stories and even the posts that sound similar to mine. I'm putting this out there to see if you wise folks have any advice.  I am currently in the process of trying to improve my credit so we can lease an apartment.  My credit score is currently 649- I have 4 closed 0$ balance student loans on my report. They will be deleted by 2019, however I'd like to find out how to remove them this month before I apply for the apartment.  They come up as derogatory and negative on my report. I completed a student loan rehabilitation program to have them consolidated back in 2013, I thought they would have been removed.

Is there a letter I should write to get closed accounts deleted? I'm not sure where to go with this.

My husbands credit score is 501, he has 3 negative closed accounts. We paid off capital one in full last week 388$. The second credit card is Bank of America with a balance  $3438, we can't afford to pay that off in full. Should we settle on a smaller amount then ask to have it removed?  The last account is a retail card that has a limit of 2500 but no balance listed. Any advice would be much appreciated.

With a successful SL rehab and all payments made on time then they should have been removed, send a GW letter to the admin of the loan program and ask it be done. You can try for the PFD but OCs rarely do it so the sooner you settle it can be updated to 0 balance and begin to age back in time.

I was told rehab if completed as agreed will remove the history of the default from the Loan, which consolidation alone doesn’t do.... but the late payments leading up to the default will remain. I’m currently just starting a rehab now
