Been following the forums for awhile, first time I've posted. FICO currently at 673, and if I can get to 700 in the next couple weeks it'll mean the difference between an FHA mortgage and a conventional one with a whole lot less PMI added to the payment.
I have a collection on my CR that's showing a balance, but was transferred to another CA and paid off. Does it help me to dispute the balance on the collection if it's showed as paid to another CA elsewhere on my report? Will my score go up if the balance on the collection shows at 0? I started an online dispute with TU and EQ last night, and now I'm worried that messing with this so close to when my lender is going to run my score again might have been a bad idea. Any advice?
Thanks much to all on the forums for everything so far.
Debt collector 1, if their collection authority was terminated for any reason, either by payment to them, cancellation of their authority from the owner, of sale of the debt, was obligated to report $0 balance under collection. In my opinion, while a bit or manual review will most likely show the fact that it should report $0, there is no need to have to decipher and interpret.
I would call them and request update. If they fail to do so, then file a direct dispute with them for inaccuracy in their current reporting.
