I had four student loans that were suppose to be consolidated. Well by mistake two of them were left out of the consolidation and went on reporting late for nearly 7 months UGHHHH. When I finally caught the error the loans were consolidated and the creditors were paid off in full by the consolidation company. My credit report has been updated but the 180 day lates look AWFUL and so does the "paid in collections". I have contacted each company over and over to get a goodwill delete but they wont budge
Would it work at all in my favor to put a statement on my credit report to explain what happened? Those two loans are my only negative but they are killing my score and wont fall off until 2015.
The right to place a statement in your credit file pertaining to adverse information arises once you have disputed and the accuracy of the information has been verified.
Have they been disputed? If not, the CRAs have no obligation to place consumer discussions in their credit reports.
Yes, they have varified the information. Basically the are reporting it as "clam filed with government" which looks bad. What they are not saying is that they were PAID via consolidation. I just thought it might help if I put a statement in my file that states that.
