I had an account with ComEd go to collections. It was a $58 charge and appeared on my credit report as Torres Credit. I called ComEd and paid it (Feb. 11) and the CSR told me that they would pull it back from the CA. In March I checked and it was still there. I started emailing the Customer Relations person and at first she ignored me. Then I got a call from them saying that they were looking into it last week. Today I called and he said that the system showed that they would notify the CA that the account was paid in full and the process would take 30-90 days. I asked if that meant that they were pulling it back from the CA. He said they were telling them that it was closed. I asked if that meant deleted. He said that it said PIF and it would take 30-90 days. I'm not really convinced that that is the same as deleted and I think the report will only be updated to show PIF.
Any other angle?
No, updating to PIF is not the same as deleting it. It will only be updated to a paid status. This will not help your score at all.
Le Sigh. That is what I thought. All of this was in response to a GW letter. So I guess I will wait and see what happens and try again.
Please clarify something for me. I have seen posted here that if you pay an OC the CA has nothing to report and must delete. Obviously that isn't true. In this case, would I GW the CA?
Only if the OC pulls back the CA. Otherwise, they'll just update the CA as to the PIF or whatever status. Try GW, but it doesn't seem likely - that doesn't mean it won't happen, though.

No, the only time that would work would be if it was a medical debt. Also, if the CA was not yet reporting and you paid the OC, the CA would have nothing to report.
You send a GW to who is reporting on your CR.
My disputes came back and it was deleted from two reports. I called TU on Wednesday and disputed over the phone. Gone from all three reports.
What was the basis of the dispute?
