Like so many others- I made some big mistakes and am trying to clean my credit. I have been lurking here for ages and saw information on requesting and early exclusion.
I pulled all 3 of my reports- compared them and tried to make sure I had the right dates for EE before trying anything. All of my derogatory things are from about the same time period- within a few months of each other. However close enough that I should be able to go from TU to Experian and then bide my time until Equifax gets around to doing their thing.
TU was first - I started with just 1 account requesting it thru credit karma. Success! I got a bit click happy and accidentally requested it in an account that was at 7 mo before the date it should fall off. They denied it and put a note on it saying I disputed. No biggie - wait a month and try again. Now I am at the point I have absolutely nothing derogatory on TU. My score (showing on myfico) is about 100 pts higher on TU than Experian or Equifax.
Next step is Experian right-- pull a fresh report and notice there are accounts not showing that were present before. Sweet- so I start requesting EE on ones that I think are to the point I have a chance of getting removed. The one I did too early on Transunion shows that it should be on my report until August. I haven't touched it on Experian. There is a note showing I disputed it though. I thought the agencies didn't share info... so I go ahead and pull Equifax as well. That account is completely gone from their report.
I started with 6 collections on each CRA report. Currently none on TU, 3 on Experian and 1 on Equifax. The 3 on Experian show they should age off in September. The one on Equifax is September as well.
Experian and equifax both have removed items not due to age off until October- that I have yet to attempt to dispute other than on TU. I'm not complaining- just confused and hoping they don't pop back up. The other confusing thing to me is most of the collections had corresponding closed credit cards for the exact same debt. TU removed them. Experian hasn't yet (I'm in process of requesting early exclusion) and Equifax has 1 I thought would come off in April still showing yet the collection account for it is gone. (They haven't removed any closed accounts just collection accounts)
Did I not lurk enough and see that this is common? I have specifically avoided touching anything on Equifax since everything I've seen makes it look as though they just do their own thing and usually delete about a month early. Any thoughts on what is happening and if I should expect things to pop back up?
