I am in the process of getting the last negative account off of my credit report and it happens to be CA (Enhanced Recovery) for Sprint. I called Sprint today and asked them if I PIF if they would pull the account from the CA and they said "yes, it will be off of your account within 24 hours." I proceeded to pay the $574 and after doing so I felt leary so I called the CA. Enhanced Recovery told me that the account would be listed as PAID and that it would not be taken off of my credit report. I got pissed and argued with the rep. for a while and they told me that they would send me a PIF letter when they recieved the info from Sprint. I said, "OK," and hung up. I then didn't feel right about getting a PIF letter from them since I didn't pay THEM, I paid Sprint. So I called them back and got in a major argument w/ the rep. and ended up hanging up on her after telling her to "have a nice day," very sarcastically. I ended up being on the phone for a long time trying to sort it all out w/ Sprint but they kept telling me that there is nothing that they can do now except for tell the CA that it is PIF, it is out of their hands, so-to-say. I feel like I am being lied to by someone.
The account was one month from being past SOL and I feel like I made a big mistake and wasted $574 dollars. Someone please help me! Should I call my bank and tell them to stop payment on the pending payment to Sprint? It is still pending with my bank so I can call them and tell them that it is fraudulant! Or should I just let Sprint put it as paid and hope that it drops off of my credit report as the first person said that it would?!?
Thanks all that read my post and for any help that can be rendered!!!
Oh wow... That's why I always advise to negotiate by snail mail. It leaves a paper trail. A PIF does get rid of the debt, but does nothing for your credit score. They always say,, We will mark it paid in full, well, that's not doing you any favors. They have to mark it paid in full. What they don't have to do is report anything at all!
As far as what you should do, well I don't know if stopping payment would actually be a wise thing. I know we sometimes get heated when we get the run around, but I'm telling you it goes much easier in the long run if you shower them with kindness.
Since it will be paid, out of the way, no way for anyone to collect again, I consider that a good thing. Maybe give a little time and start the GW process.
Sorry to hear about your situation, but everything is fixable.
Good Luck.
Thank you for the quick response!! I am so tempted to stop payment on the account and then nagotiate via snail mail. At least they wouldn't be the only ones going back on their word!
Can't give you much assurance, but I had the very same situation with Enhance collecting for Sprint. I tried to work a PFD with Enhanced and was a no go, and they gave me my original account number with Sprint, and I contacted Sprint directly only because I refused to pay Enhanced a $12.95 processing fee to pay my debt. I contacted Sprint, and they advised if I paid the account it would be pulled back immediately from Enhanced. They never mentioned removing the TL, but I paid Sprint directly and within the week it was removed from all 3 of my CR with no issues.....Sprint even went so far as to send a letter stating I was a good paying customer for "X" amount of years and my account was in good standing.......
Enhanced was actually pissed when I called and told them the account was paid to Sprint......If Sprint was paid Enhanced doesn't technically control the reporting.....I found that Enhanced doesn't actually own the accounts. They were upset, because when Sprint received payment how they close the accounts out stops them from reporting the accounts just as Paid In Full......

I believe that I read your original post about the matter and it is one of the reasons that I took the route that I did. I felt that if you got that then maybe I can get the same. I guess that I will leave it the way it is and cross my fingers.
How long did it take for them to delete it from your reports?
TU and EX were within a week.....I had to argue and fight with EQ.....Had to send proof of payment and the letter Sprint sent me......Like I said Sprint did keep their word....My issue was with Enhanced......Sprint never made mention of deleting the TL, they just told me it would be pulled back from Enhanced and my CR would be adjusted. At that point I was just looking to get it paid it was actually an old account that would have fallen off 5/2013, but took a chance on it.
I do have to admit, I'm by no means a negotiator, and I have a very direct avenue and point when I call....I don't like exchanging BS about this business.....I call and get right to the point and at times very short tempered, so at times I have to "choke" myself, but I come straight out and say what I want; expect and willing to pay what I owe or else I walk away and wait for another day to attack!!!!!!

Did you get the name of the person you spoke with at Sprint and I think they should have given a reference number as well......
Hi OP. I wouldn't rile up ERC too much... I also had an old sprint bill with them. I didn't really know where to start and I didn't want to call sprint. I sent them an email with a DV letter. They DID respond that it would be listed as investigation in process on my CRs while they got the info to validate. All of a sudden about a week later it was off all of my reports. This was weeks ago and I haven't heard anything since then.
If it were me in the situation I'd probably send ERC a DV now that it's paid. Then I'd give it a couple weeks and see if they respond and/or if it drops off your reports. If not, then I would suggest GWing it till it's gone. I don't think you'll have too much trouble as long as you STAY OFF the phone!!! ![]()
