Stay ahead of the due dates and you'll be fine.
You cannot pay ahead with this account. they take it off the tail end. This is one of my methods for savings (its a CD loan). I also have a CD with NFCU. I cannot have plain cash sitting in a savings account otherwise I will just spend it.

@bass_playr wrote:Also, this is not an FCRA question as much as it is a contract question. You mentioned a loan....well, that likely means you signed a promissory note? If so, you need to read the conditions and terms within that note. Promissory notes generally contain clauses that dictate how payments must be applied to the balance, fees, etc. If your note requires them to apply payments to principal and interest before applying them to fees, then they violated the terms of their own contract. Your promissory note holds the answers you're looking for.
The reason I considered it an FCRA question is because they were threatening to report me late if I do not pay on time. Which I believe would go against the FCRA as that would be reporting information incorrectly.
You can only be reported late if you miss a payment after the next statement date posts. Say your statement closed on 09/01/2021. Due date is 09/23/2021. If you dont pay by the next statement date on 10/01/2021. Thats a 30 day late. Now if you paid before 10/01/2021 and after 09/23/2021, Then late fees will be added unto your next bill. But no late is placed on your reports.

How do I say this without having it taken the wrong way. Its great you admit you have a spending problem. Thats the first step. I believe if you didnt. This thread might not have been started. As a medical professional for 36 yrs. An addiction can be with anything in life. There's thousands of addictions. I suggest if you have the means or insurance or an employee assitance program to seek help on this. Trust me I'm trying my best to type this the right way. Spending addiction or buying disorder can be treated. Doesnt mean your nuts or anything. But there are plenty of resources out there to help you with this. You can get it under control and have a wonderful life. Not that you dont now. You'll learn to live without that high when you buy. Just like some with credit cards and they get swipe fever and then its rebuild time. I wish you the best of luck.
I never really thought about getting help for it. That is honestly a great idea. Ive kinda just learned to know myself and put extra cash in places harder to reach to deincentive me from spending. Which is why i like CD's. Ive tried to combat my spending problem by not holding onto credit cards, not allowing overdraft protection on cards, and putting excess cash into cds/stock accounts before i pay bills. My employer does have really good benefits so im definitely going to look into bettering myself. I never looked at it like an addiction but that's hitting the nail on the head.
Awesome!!!!! Yes I'm an ole Fighterfighter/Medic that tried to quit smoking a million times. Then I had I'll say a heart scare. Cardiac Cath. Stress Tests, ect. Well that was it. Done. Thankfully it wasnt my heart. It was my lipid profile. Cholesterol was thru the roof. Here comes the drugs to lower it. 7 yrs later. I'm good and just passed this years stress test last month. So sometimes it takes a kick in the hind end to finally realize yo its time to change. So I did. Spending wont kill you. If I kept on and didnt have that scare. I may have had as Fred Sanford said. Its the big one Elizabeth!
Look at it as a life tweak. I was never a big saver. Now as older and wiser. I love seeing my account go higher and higher. Thats a rush. Plus if something goes south and cant pay the bills. Its in the bank as the backup. I go by the pay yourself first 10% and put it in savings. You worked for it. Pay yourself first. You can overcome it.
Once you kick that tweaks butt. I stay at AZEO for a reason. I want something. I save for it. Once I save what I need. I use a card that has the most cashback or deal. Use it and then whats saved. I use the savings and pay off the card. Great feeling. Banks are rich enough. I'm not going to make them richer with interest. Win for me. I wish nothing but the best and I know you can do this. Please keep us updated on your progress. Come back and say hey I got a grand in the bank! Woo Hoo!
