I've been working on clearing anything derogatory from my credit profile. Last week I settled with Jefferson Capital for a debt from First Premier and have the clear/delete letter from them stating that it will be removed from my report. Today, out of the blue I get a text message from First Premier. So I called them, and they are telling me that they had 2 cards in my name from 2019 and only sent 1 to Jefferson Capital. The lady on the phone admitted that they haven't made a phone call or text message on this 2nd account in the past 6 years. I asked why this was triggered today - no answer. I asked to be able to log in online to see this account and was told that I would need my ID and password (which I don't have) . When I stated that she said I would need to reset my password through the website. It asks for the full credit card number (which I don't have) and when I asked her for the number she said I would need to "pull my credit file and the full number will be on there." At that point I ended the call. Any thoughts here? Seems awfully weird that I suddenly get a call after settling with Jefferson Capital after 6 years of silence.
I am certainly no expert as I have just begun learning all of this myself, but I do know that once you've paid the CA, they report that to the OC so it can then be updated with the CRA's. Once the OC saw that you were willing to make a payment on a debt that was set to fall off in one years time, they figured they would hit you up for the other debt. I can't say for sure, but they had likely previously assumed they would never see a penny from you, but you've now shown otherwise.

Looks like 1st Premier hasn't changed They messed up ... Check to see if debt out of SOL , debt will off after 7 years.. unless Premier has restarted debt clock from your phone call
