In Dec 2007 my Equifax score was a frightening 597. It has been on a slow uphill course since then. Today, I finally crossed over to the 700's. WOW...I think it is mostly due to consistently paying everything on time, not acquiring unnecessary debt and just being plain conservative. I did open two cards over the last two years but never used them once (a visa and a mastercard). I toyed with the idea of charging small items against them but resisted. Now, I am sitting just fine with my Amex, a mortgage, two unused cards and no other debt. Feels REALLY GOOD!!!
