GE Credit Holding Funds - Affecting Utilization

We have 2 accounts with GE Credit, both of them are cards.

Each account was maxed out at $3000 and $1000

On 4/12 we paid them down to 500/3000 and 500/1000

Our online account shows the payments made, but our available credit is showing at $100 on each account.

We called and was told that the account balance is being held 10-14 days, but the available balance will adjust after the hold period.

Is this typical of when someone pays down an account that much?

This was not a check that would be waiting for funds to clear, as we paid this down online with our debit card.

I was hoping for a big bump by paying down the utilization, but the wait is killing me. I would like to know if any of you had experienced this "hold" before?

Re: GE Credit Holding Funds - Affecting Utilization

This is pretty normal....for many lenders.

I have had it happen many times until you create a pattern with them of making large payments.
