Hello,
I am new to the forum and well... I need help. Im 29 years old and I am 28k in debt. I am on a mission to clean up my credit in the next 2-3 years becasue Im hoping to marry the love of my life and I dont want to enter a marriage with financial "baggage" I would like to think that I am not beyond hope but 90% of my debt is either charged off or with a collection agency. I just want to know where to start. Any help would be great!
Hello Meeza, welcome to the forums. You certain came to the right place to seek help. There are many on here that are more than willing and very capable to help however I'm not one of them. (yet) I do know what the experts will ask for tho.
They will need your credit reports and more information before anyone can begin to help you. Do you have them? If not you can go to annualcreditreport(dot)com and get them for free. The reports are free, the scores are not. You can get a score but it costs a little extra. If I were you I would only pull from one CA to start. You can go back at any time go get the other two. (You're entitled to 1 free report each year from each reporting agency (EQ, TU, EXP) by law.) Do this first, and come back to post what you've found. (You will find several examples if you check thru a few posts in this forum.)
Get Busy! and Good Luck!

Ok here's what I have on my TU report which is the worst of the 3 - current score 434 *yikes!*
HSBC Orchard Bank Secured Card $200 closed
Rewards 660 Visa $300 closed
Jefferson Capital (CA) $390 (think this is the same Rewards 660 card)
Gulf Coast Collections Solutions Wireless (OC) $300 - not sure what this is...
Cavalry (CA) ATT Wireless (OC) $389
RJM Acquisitions Charter One Bank $1,077
CCI Collections $364 (Utility bill)
Unique National Collections $192
Progressive Insurance $193
TLC Management $4491
Vesta $78 not sure what this is
TMobile $745
RCN Chicago $612
Verizon Avenue $679
These are all charge offs except for the orchard bank card which was secured and just got closed. Any guidance on where to start is most appreciated!

I would start by reading these forums. Don't do anything until you have done your research. And personally, I would pull all 3 of my free reports to see what's reporting on each and what you are really dealing with.
You need to learn about the abbreviations used on the forums, what the DOFD is on your accounts, which ones are still within SOL and how much money you realistically have to work with every month to get these accounts paid. Whatever you do, don't talk on the phone with the CA and don't arbitrarily dispute accurate information on your reports!
Read the other posts and see how others post their credit information, such as creditor, amount owed, DOFD, SOL etc. Research the CA's you are dealing with and see which ones are easier to deal with and which ones are difficult.
After you have read (and you will read a lot!) come back and post some more specific information. Also, read the stickies at the top of this forum. This is going to be time consuming and hard work, but from someone who just closed on my first house, it is so worth every bit of effort!!!!
