Hi All,
I wanted to throw this out to the community to see if anyone has had similar experiences, or what the general consensus is on how I should move forward.
About a year and a half ago I went through the process of working with my auto loan lender (AHFS) to have some late payments goodwilled off my report. I think I had 4 or 5 over a stretch of time that I was transitioning to a deployed status in the military (had just recently graduated college, and was not working for a couple months). Anyways, I was able to work with AFHS and they agreed to remove all but 1 of my 30 day lates, which was outstanding! I was, and still am very appreciative about that.
So here is my question. Two of three CRAs report the tradeline correctly, showing 1 30 day for August 2011, but my Equifax shows 2 30 day lates, (May and July 2011). Should I ask them to correct this? Just do this by contacting the AFHS directly? I'm worried they would change their mind or something if I was to bring this up and put the 30 day lates back on my account. Could they do that?
The other question is, I have since refinanced this loan (Feb 2012). Could I request a goodwill for the final 30 day late on the account? I'm not asking the likelihood of them approving this GW, but I'm wondering if they could decide to put the old 30 day lates back on the account.
Rather than conjecture, I'd be interested in hearing anyone who has been in a similar situation, or tried something similar?
Thanks for any help you can provide!
30 day lates lose most, if not all of their steam after a year or 2.
It's only handy to have them removed if someone will be manual reviewing your CR.
