HIPPA while currently disputing

Question....

Can I start the HIPAA process while I have current non medical dipute underway, or should I wait until the current Dispute has concluded?

Additional Question....

Can I or is it a good idea to DV a CA even if the age of the collection reporting on CR is old (5+ years) and they have already sent out their 30 day validation Letter to me?  Does the CA have to validate at this point?  Thank you all so much.

Wait until your non medical dispute is completed.

Need more info. What is this debt for? What is your state's legal SOL? Can you afford to pay this debt in full if you have to?

Re: HIPPA while currently disputing

Thanks for the responce fused:

These are collection debts due to CO's

The SOL's on all are expired

I can PIF if needed

Also regarding HIPAA, It's sayes I need to opt out, correct.  Why, does this prevent something?  And do I need to opt back in once completed? Or should I stay opted out.

Thanks again, much apreciated

Re: HIPPA while currently disputing

If the OC is reporting the COs, you cannot DV them. DV letters are only sent to CAs. While in credit repair mode, opting out helps prevent your creditors and CRAs from sharing your personal information with parties who have no business to it. Opting out will usually help you through the credit repair process. Once you're done with credit repair, its up to you to if you want to stay opted out.

Re: HIPPA while currently disputing

Thanks fused...one last question;

In some cases both are reporting, doe's this mean I can't Dv the CA or should I Dv the CA's prior to sending a PFD ltr?  And doe's the CA still have to respond to the Dv if it is an old acct.

From what I gather it is a good idea to opt out not only for HIPAA dispute, but also anytime I am in the repair process, correct.   Can I opt out while I have a current dispute inprogress?  Thanks again for your input.

Yes, you can DV the CA then. They do not have to respond outside of the 30 day window.

Correct!
