Ok, my purpose for credit repair is the hope to buy a house (USAA or FHA) this time next year. My scores are in between 550 and 600.
I am using the "Texas Credit" letter (I live in Texas) for a lot of my baddies and collections. They are a mixture of CC, medical, etc. Total of those is approximately $ 8000.
I don't want to write Cap One with the Texas letter. I currently have the Cap One card that started with $300 and was recently increased (due to 3 months of on time payments) to $500.
I had a car financed by Cap One, but was in a major accident. This accident is still in personal injury litigation. The property settlement and gap insurance covered all but $750 (left after $16K loan). They have charged it off. The other Cap One account is a CC, with $454 written off. Opened 8/12, Last reported 4/14. 10/13 first reported delinquency.
Cap One is also frequently writing me with car loan offers - pre-approved.
What should I do about these accounts in a way that has integrity AND a chance of improving my score?

If you are referring to the TX style DV you dont ever send them to an OC they go to CAs and JDBs only.
For unpaid medical debt that is reporting on your CR:
1. Call the OC and ask that they recall the collection in exchange for full payment
2. Send the reporting CA a PFD offer
3. Google the HIPAA Process and contact its creator for help

Anyone that wont settle for a PFD and its updating on a monthly basis I would advise you to settle and switch to GW letter requests for deletion. If they are updating they are keeping your Fico depressed. Welcome to My Fico ![]()

Thank you for the answer and the welcome. I am a new poster, but have been reading for a long time. Long enough to know that you've told me not to send the Texas letter to anyone but Credit Agencies and Junk Debt Buyers. I will cull my letters to make sure. And I will take your advice on the medical debt.
