Ok.. so it is my understanding that a Medical Collection doesn't effect my AAoA, and have been advised to try to get it removed.
My History is short on both EQ & EX due to both only showing an auto loan taken out in 6/09. The only other record is the Medical Lab Collection: Date of 1st deliquency 05/2006; Date Reported 06/2007; Date Assigned 01/2007
TU has a 10 yr history because it shows a retail charge card from 1999-2004 as paid or paying as agreed with no closing date and a 0 balance. I'm pretty sure this acct. is deliquent but for some reason doesn't report as such
Here's my quandary: Both TU & EX show the CA for Medical Bill to be Alliance One. The strange part is that when I pulled my free annual reports in Jan, EQ shows the CA as CBT Credit Service with an address. When I googled the address it came up as Alliance One. When I pulled my EQ report from MYfico recently it shows the CA to be listed not by name but by a series of numbers and letters ie: 636yc00000, it also shows Original Lender as not reported. On Free report back in Jan EQ shows who the original lender is.
I'm not sure if any of this makes a difference.
My current scores are below in Sig. and I just got approved for 1st revolving acct. in over 10 yrs ( all the others dropped). Waiting for CC to arrive but I hope it will increase scores once it reports, coupled with remvoing the Medical Collection.
I feel as is if I am on the precipice of at least one Fico Score moving from Fair Credit to Good Credit, so I want to do this right.
In any event, I do owe this Medical Lab Bill. If my score won't take a hit, in regards to losing acct. history, given the above what is my best course of action?
Thanks in advance for any help
Because it is a collection account you would not lose AAoA. I think I told you it would at one point, then corrected myself.
If you paid the collection and they updated your report it would make it look like a new collection and drop your score.
Only the reports you get directly from the CRAs will show the OC. They are masked on other reports.
Your best bet would be to get a free report from https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/index.jsp to find out who is reporting. Then contact
the OC and see if they will take payment and pull the account back from the OC.
Other option is to google the HIPPA process and follow it to the letter. Or DV the CA, and if they validate, send a PFD.
Make sure you can PIF if you opt for the DV.
Yes, you did correct yourself regarding the AAoA not being affected by removal of a collection. I just want to avoid taking the wrong steps in trying to have it deleted. I definitely don't want it showing up as a new collection by paying and dropping my score.
I guess I'll contact the OC and see if they would agree to payment and pull from CA. And then go from there.
Sorry for seeming redundant. Just want to do it right.
Thanks Again.
