Re: Help with Credit One

They can still report the account and all the baddies they just have to set it so the amount owed is $0. Many companies do this they sell the account to a collection agency. The original creditor can still report just with a $0 balance and then the CA can start reporting also. You can fight the CA's but the OC isnt obligated to remove. You can try to goodwill them.

Re: Help with Credit One

I assume that Credit One was the original creditor (OC), and then sold the debt to a collection agency (CA)?

The prior reporting of delinqencies on the OC account are separate from the CA account.  Payment to the Ca does not affect removal of any prior reporting  by the OC, and nor does it secure removal of the CA itself, unless you have proof of a prior PFD acceptance from the CA.

No, the OC cannot update anything, for they apparently have no more claim for debt against you, and thus have nothing to update. Their prior reporting will, however, remain for 7 years from each date of OC monthly delinquency, even though the debt is now discharged with the CA.

Since the OC is now apparently out of the picture, the only way to get their prior reporting deleted is by way of a good-will letter to them.

If you want a GW deletion from them, you have to convince them that they still want and need your business. If the account is closed, and they suffered loss through their collection process, that might not be easy to obtain.

Best of luck.
