So I'm trying to rebuild my credit and everyone in the forums seems to point to credit unions as the best way to get credit cards, loans, etc in the future. I've decided that I want to join a credit union but its become more difficult than what I thought. Most of my neighborhood credit unions are church or hospital ones and I've searched for a few but seemed to be pretty far away.
I live in New York City and wanted to know which are the best and easiest credit unions to join..I've tried searching the boards but couldn't find an answer so some help will be gladly appreciated.
Ive also heard of Alliant...whats up with them?
Empower FCU.Seems to be the closest and easiest one since they are associated with my employer but haven't heard many reviews from them. Are they any good? Thanks in advance and I just wanted to add that this forum rocks!!! ![]()
I
I've never heard of Empower FCU, but there are several great CUs out there and most of which probably aren't mentioned within these forums. There are always ways of joining CUs without an employer group or family affiliation. Some allow you to join just by joining a 3rd-party or organization (e.g. Penfed and NMFA if that affiliation is still there). Join a CU because of their benefits, proximity or availability to deposit and withdraw remotely, and selection of credit products. I'm sure you have hundreds of choices in the NYC area.
