Help with removing credit report items..if possible.

I had a number of CA's for medical debts and one comcast debt I was not aware of until months later, last bill after moving from old home a few years ago.  All have been paid off for a couple years now, some were paid in full others were settled for less amounts (medical debts).

I have not had a late payment on my car and boat loan and credit cards in years now.. but my score never seems to go up, if so its not much.  I am plagued in the mid 600's at best for score.

I think its because of the CA reports in my credit report that my score won't go up much, they all show paid or settled and zero balance but I think them being on my report is hurting my score.  Is there a service I can use (online or in person) that will go over my 3 reports and help me get these removed.. or at least try to get them removed from my report?

thanks for any suggestions

Re: Help with removing credit report items..if possible.

Credit Repair Services will jsut charge you a lot of money to do what you can do for free, and you have your best intrests in mind.  So try to do this yourself if you can.

You should list your trade lines on here that are bad, and hopefully we can all take a look and offer advice on what to do with them.

Also, make sure your credit card balances are 0-9% of the limits.  Utilization of your available credit counts a long way towards your score.  If your cards are maxed out then jsut paying on time is doing nothing for your score.

Any late payments you have with your accounts open now you should send good will letters to asking them to remove the past late payments from your record.  let them know you are trying to clean up your credit, and you pay on time now without fail.  If there were circumstances that caused you to be late in the past explain those and ask for consideration.

Re: Help with removing credit report items..if possible.

So I am confused.  Are these balances that are owed?  Are are these the original balances and you settled them?  What was the date of first deliquency on these accounts?  When you say everything else has been paid, does that mean paid ontime?  Or paid and still jsut reporting as a collection that was paid?

Ok, and what are the dates of first deliquency?

Any accounts that have been settled, you can contact them and ask for a PFD contract with them.  Any accounts that were paid in full, you need to send goodwill letters begging them to remove it.

If I were you, I would send GW letters to all the CA's you paid, asking them to stop reporting. Also, pay attention to your CC utilization. Lowering your utiization seems to be the quickest way to raise you score.

Re: Help with removing credit report items..if possible.

I am going to do that, send gw letters, everyone says to first do a debt validation with the credit agencies, I am not seeing how to do that (with experian anyway so far).  I have experian up right now and trying to dispute but see no option for debt validation option.  Not sure what to select for the dispute.

Also are there any samples of a gw letter somewhere I can look over?

thanks again
