Hello all,
Need a bit of info. At the end of 2013 i had payed off all of my collections with midland, portfolio and calvary, however when i ran my credit thru MyFico it still shows still in collection. i have a friend in the mortgage industry as i just recently purchased a home and it shows as
''paid"for less than what they were asking for thru the credit report he had gotten. Should'nt it show as paid??? Can i call them directly to see if they can update it?? not to sure what i can do at this point.
thanks
GW letters in an effort to get the TLs removed is the way to go. Good luck
Thanks for the advice.
Paid for less means they are reporting that you paid the debt, and it is satisfied.
The "for less" part of their reporting is optional on their part, and provided notice to others that they chose to accept less than the full amount of the asserted debt as full satisfaction.
The impact does not pertain to your debt obligation. It is satisfied.
The impact is that it informs others that the creditor took a loss in dealing with you.
That is always a negative comment, as if a prospective creditor believes you may repeat the behavior of attempting to settle for less, they may take a loss in any extension of credit to you.
You can contact them and request that they either delete the collection in total, or that they optionally delete the reporting of settled for less.
If they delete that comment, your credit report will then appear the same as if you had paid the debt in full.
