I entered 2009 with no debt, and a Chapter 13 bankruptcty on the cusp of discharge (which occurred 1/9/09). I guess you could say I've gone on a "credit binge" since then, though toward good ends: I've closed a mortgage (3/09), opened a couple of unsecured credit-card lines (03/09 and 07/09) and a car loan (8/09). I've used the credit cards to somewhat high utilization -- I'm a schoolteacher with two income-free months in summer -- but will bring balances to zero by year's end. Mortgage and auto payments made on time; ditto credit-card lines. At what point will my FICO score 'normalize' -- in other words, accurately reflect my current financial state? I anticipate no further credit inquiries in the foreseeable future, but realize the bankruptcy and credit inquiries/utilization currently hurt. In short, can I expect to buy that awning for the back patio next spring?
