I had an orchard bank credit card. I closed the account with intentions of paying off balance. It then got moved to cap one. During this transition I lost track of it and did not pay it off. Calvary ended up with account and I paid them off. My credit report shows it as a charge off with cap one and a $25 past due balance. I also show a Calvary paid collection with original creditor as HSBC. Seems as though there is a lot of inaccurate information related to this account. How should I proceed with getting these inaccuracies cleaned up? And will it make a difference in score if I did? At the very least I think have the past due of $25 removed would help.
Simply write the CRAs a letter informing them that the balance reported on the HSBC card is not correct. For the CA you would send them a GW letter and ask them to remove the paid collection. Score would probably increase the amount would depend on how old these things are on your CR, the older they are the less of an impact they have on your score.
