How to handle collection from University of Phoenix \ Charge Off

Hello, question on how to handle this charge off.

University of Phoenix

Total$1738

Charge off

Opened 02/2015 (in Missouri)

First delinquency 03/2016

This is a bill that my employer at the time was suppose to cover. I no longer work there and don't want to deal with getting this back from them so I need to know the best way to handle. Some time ago I received a letter from FBCS Inc in Hatboro, PA offering me a settlement of 60% off, for a total due of $695.28 which is AMAZING (this letter was dated in November of 2017). At the time I was not able to handle this situation, now I am in the position to make some sort of payment and would like to do something since it  continues to report MONTHLY from University of Phoenix with this balance. FBCS IS NOT reporting on my credit. When I googled FBCS it says they are "We are a nationally licensed and bonded collection agency offering pre-charge off, early out, and third party collection services for clients across a variety of industry verticals".

Anyways, what would be the best way to handle this, going directly to University of Phoenix with a goodwill letter offering that reduced amount of $695.28 if they will remove this from my credit? Please let me know. Thank you all!

Re: How to handle collection from University of Phoenix \ Charge Off

Call UoP and see if they will recall the debt. I don’t know if they will but it’s worth a shot.
Search the forums for info on the Collection Agency who holds the account. They may accept PFD offers.
I had a charge off with UoP. I paid the CA ( don’t remember who), sent the school a goodwill letter and they removed the charge off from my reports. Hope this helps
