How.to make sure a collection, public record, or other items is listed at its.best.

I hope this makes sense but as I look at my three bureau credit report I see a lot of inconsistencies between each agency. For instance. Two might list the status as being paid but not the third, yet the third shows a zero balance. How can I know what fields matter the most and how do I know what they should be updated to that gives the best results.

Any resource would be great. There is a fifty point difference between (transunion and experion) and Equifax.

Thank you,

Ken

The critical information that most affects scoring depends upon the type of derog, so a broad answer is not possible.

For example, for most derogs, date paid or showing of $0 balance does not affect scoring, but for a tax lien, date paid begins the running of the exclusion period and is thus critical information..

And, while not a scoring factor, date paid for a collection informs others the debt is no longer delinquent, so it is important on many manual review.

I will point to a few common items for collections, which is likely your primary concern.

The reported DOFD is critical, as it defnes when colection wiill become excluded, and in most cases, since the DOFD is usually also the date of running of the SOL for your state, provides basis fo determine the SOL status of the debt.

Another important factor for collections is to check, if the OC is also reporting, for any DOFD that they may also have reported, and whehter the OC has updated their balance to $0, which tells you that they longer own the debt, and thus you can no longer pay them.
