Hello All,
I'm pretty new to the forum although I've been a lurker off and on for quite a while. I am starting to rebuild my credit and have several medical collections on my credit file. I have contacted the OC and they referred me to the CA, Amcol Systems. After sending a PFD and a settlement offer with no response I decided to contact them by phone. The original debt was for $2336. I was told by the rep that they would delete the account in 30 days if I pay $1869 in full. I requested that they send me something in writing stating this and she said that they would not be able to send me anything. Do you think they will honor their word? Is there anything that I should do to cover myself?
Some background information: I have one credit card Capital One $750 CL (was carying a high balance now paid off and plan to keep utilization between 1-5%), Student Loans $54k (consolidated 3/7/13-not yet showing on credit file), Car Loan-Ally Financial $13k, Medical Collections approx. $5k. Income $63k/year.
I want to apply for credit cards to increase my score but I have these collections and a couple of 30 day late payments on my file from when I was unemployed last year. I requested a CLI from Capital One and they said they could not offer me an increase at this time. Any tips or advice (besides a secured card) would be appreciated!
Thanks!
You can send GW requests to see if they would remove the late payments.
As for the PFD, maybe you could email them confirming what they told you about settling and removing within 30 days. It would give you something in writing if they responded.
