Inquires hurting score?

Inquires are hurting me!  Credit Karma shows 11 and MyFICO shows this ones below.  The one for March 05 are all one dealer. I know they are supposed to be seen as one pull but it feels like they are hurting a lot more than maybe they should be?  Idk what the 1stnatlbk pull is.  Credit Karma shows additional JP Chase and Coaf also on March 05.  I didn't give the dealership permission to pull my credit all these times.  Is there anything that can be done?  Credit Karma shows 11 but only lets me see 8 of them.  How long until they come off on their own, if there are no options.  The oldest one 07/01/2012 is Kay Jeweler's.

Re: Inquires hurting score?

Inquiries will stay on your report for 2 years.

They will not hurt your score anymore after 1 year.

If you went to an auto dealership for financing they farm this out like crazy to all sorts of lenders. So, actually you did give them permission.

When someone looks at your report they will see its for an automobile and its normally not held against you.

Really nothing you can do about it other than wait it out. Smiley Sad Sorry

Re: Inquires hurting score?

+1 dodfire. Once you sign the paper work at the dealership you are giving them permission to run your credit. However Fico only counts them as 1 HP. I believe right now its within 45 days.

I didn't sign anything.  I called the dealer.

Then they are not allowed to run your credit without written authorization

Re: Inquires hurting score?

Do I have options?  Basically I called to inquire about a vehicle and they took down my info and did what they did.

Re: Inquires hurting score?

More than likely they wanted to see if you would be approved for a loan for the car before they went any farther.  personally, I would never give out that much information over the phone if I was just calling about a car

Re: Inquires hurting score?

Theres two things here:

The auto dealer and the inquiries as a whole.

The auto dealer was looking to see if you could get approved. Not sure if you signed anything or filled out anything online, but they had to get your SSN, date of birth, etc somehow.

Re: the inquiries, those may be hurting your score, but wont be the dominant factor in keeping your score down.

Re: Inquires hurting score?

You can pull your credit reports and get the phone numbers listed to the banks and call them requesting removal of the HP. Stating your didn't give the dealership written authorization.
