Okay...I recent'y disputed a hard inquiry on my credit report. The company sent me a letter as follows:
Address To:
Experian
Transunion
Equifax
To whom this may concern:
Please delete the inquiry from 6/11/2009, possibly pulled without authorization through our former client, Handover Funding, on Mark XXXXX, SSN Xxx-xx-xxxx, 21 xxxxx ct, xxxxxxx, NJ 08xxxx.
Please delete the inquiry from the consumer's credit file as soon as possible.
Thanks you for your prompt attention in this matter.
Sincerely,
xxxx xxxxxxxx

The whole reason I am trying to get this off is because, as I do remember this inquiry, i disputing the fact that it was a "Hard inquiry". I wasn't requesting a loan or credit card. Just my Credit report.
Now my question is, if I should make copies of this letter and send them to each credit bureau, are they going to put a "Fraud Alert" on my account?
Also, should I write my own letter to the bureaus attached to this letter, stating that, "I do not consider this fraud, but I was under the impression this should have been a soft inquiry, and the reporting company agreed"?
Thanks for your help!
Did the lender or whoever mail copies to the CRAs yet? It seems odd that they'd mail the letter to you and have you do it.
Personally, I would do nothing. It will forever stop impacting your FICO score come next month.
If you did do something with it, I would start by calling the OC that pulled your report and ask them to re-code the inquiry as a soft.
If you opt to mail the letter instead, you could have a FA placed, but with some calls to the CRAs, you can get that removed (assuming it was even placed in the first place).
Awesome. THANKS!
