Interesting Collection Acct

I was sent to collections by Sprint PCS for 156.00.  The CA is a horrible company that will harass you until you write them a cease and desist letter.

I sent a check to the orginal creditor (sprint) and they cashed it!  Now I have a cashed check showing that sprint pcs bill is paid.

Does the collection agency have to remove their collection now that I have sent them proof that the bill was paid to the original creditor???

No, they do not have to remove it, just show it as paid. I would suggest you try a GW letter to the CA. If they are that bad I can not see them doing that.

Re: Interesting Collection Acct

But the amount was paid to the original creditor not the CA.  How does the CA fit into this?

Since it appears that the OC did not sell the account to the CA, ask the OC to pull the account from the CA and instruct them to stop collection activities. If they do this, then send the CA a DV letter.

Re: Interesting Collection Acct

Sprint assigned the debt to a CA to collect the debt. It technically does not matter who you paid, the OC or the CA. The negative account can stay on your report, showing paid, for 7 years.

As sidewinder stated, since it appears the OC assigned the debt to the CA, they have the authority to have the account pulled back from the CA. When this is done you then DV the CA, who no longer has the debt. They would then have to delete it.
