Is this correct?

I am putting this in my strong letter to National Grid, my electric company. I just want to double check that it is correct.

"Be advised that knowingly reporting an inaccurate debt to the credit reporting agencies is a violation of the FCRA and carries a $2500 fine to be paid to me."

I took this from one of the examples here, which said "reporting an unvalidated debt," and I'm wondering if my change works.

Re: Is this correct?

Just skimming through the FCRA, FCRA 616 addresses willfull noncompliance. I don't see $2500 mentioned. Although, it could be listed in another section.

Re: Is this correct?

Thanks sidewinder. I did a search for 2,500 and here's the paragraph.

"In the event of a knowing violation, which constitutes a pattern or practice
of violations of this title, the Commission may commence a civil action to
recover a civil penalty in a district court of the United States against any
person that violates this title. In such action, such person shall be liable for
a civil penalty of not more than $2,500 per violation."

I think I will put in that I'm well aware that this is not personal and no doubt this damaging practice applies to many of their customers, more and more in these trying economic times.
