Kingston Data and Credit PFD?

I have one last baddie on my record, which is only showing on my TU. I believe it is from an Anytime Fitness where my debit card on file got a new # due to fraud, and charges did not go through after I got my new card. I tried to cancel via phone and email, but was also moving at the time so was not able to go in person as they requested to cancel (gyms!). So I found it a better solution to not update the card# rather than being charged forever for a gym I could never go to.

I don't have the fitness place on my CR at all, only the Kingston collection agency. I have *NEVER* had any contact from them - snail mail, email, or phone. I only know this from pullling my CR. Not sure if it's because I moved right when the issue started. It is for 360. SOL in my state is 5 years, and that was reached this past dec. I would be fine with letting it age off, but I have a couple of CU that pull TU9 I'm interested in getting better products with (NFCU and Apple FCU), and while my TU8 is pretty much on par with my EQ and EX 8's, my TU9 is about 80 points lower.

Wondering if anyone knows if they PFD at Kingston? If so, would calling be sufficient or would I need to send snail mail?I don't want to restart any timelines so have never contacted yet. But since SOL has passed, I'm considering a PFD so I can get my TU9 up to a normal level rather than waiting another 2 years. Thanks!

Re: Kingston Data and Credit PFD?

FICO 9 ignores paid collections, so if your goal is FICO 9 pullers, just pay the collection

I'd start with the gym and ask them to pull the collection back in exchange for you paying them back in full and if that doesn't work, see if they do PFD on the collection, I'm not finding anything consumer facing about them if they PFD or not

Starting FICO 8:
Current FICO 8:

Thanks for the advice! If I contacted the gym, do you think there would there be the potential of resetting the SOL? From what research I have done on Kingston, it seems for a collection agency they have decent reviews, only one of which I noted mentioned deleting. I'm just wary to restart any timer with an inquiry, but would be happy to PIF to get it off my record.

Not to butt in here, but if your intention and ability is to PIF and settle it, I wouldn't be concerned whatsoever with resetting the SOL since it being paid/settled would eliminate them from taking any further action against you... If you were trying to make some type of payment plan then yes, that could be a cause for concern.

I am happy for you to butt in Smiley Happy. Thank you for that info as well, that if I completely PIF I would not have to worry about any repercussions. I haven't had to face many significant adverse unpaid collections before, so I have been quite concerned with how to deal with it on my record.

I will contact the gym first and then Kingston, and report back with DP once I have completed everything!
