Yeah, I received it last week. I don't know what the suit is all about though. And the estimated compensation amount noted on the letter (if I recall correctly) was pretty insignificant -- isn't it like $6 and change?
Just looked at mine again - it's a postcard and I'm, apparently, automatically listed as part of the suit, with an option to opt out. The compensation is noted on the back: Estimated $6.34, which may vary depending on the total number of participants (those that respond by January 21st).
It sounds like there was a class action and there been a pre settlement approval (thus they sent out postcards). Anyone receiving it, make sure to read it completely and check the court-approved website for any information (if one is available) and understand the settlement (including the reason why they were sued in the first place), compensation (including, but not limited to, any [non] monetary compensation), and if you can submit claims to receive further compensation, understand what is required and overall understand your rights in regard to the lawsuit. You can do nothing and receive any default compensation (if any), file a claim for compensation (if they will allow for any claims to be made), or opt-out (if you do not want to part take in the settlement thus allowing you to file your own suit in the future if you wish to do so). Of course you can object to the settlement in writing if you do not agree with it but you must do so before any deadline (especially if you wish to appeal).

lol not surprised. I wonder if I got one too. Gotta go home and check my mail now to see if I'm getting my $6.34 payday.
I'm honestly just happy they self deleted their collection after I PIF.
Same here. My collection with them, and the amount owed, was completely legit - I paid it in full and they removed it -- this was back in 2017. I have not a single care for the $6.34 I may be due... (but I'll take it).

Yes, the back of the postcard does explain your rights & options / consequences of (1) doing nothing; (2) exclude yourself (3) object; or (4) participate in hearing. It also states the settlement was reached as a result of sixteen class action lawsuits against multiple debt collectors alleging that they violated federal law by sending collection letters on behalf of LVNV and / or Pinnacle Credit Services containing allegedly false or misleading representations. The website given for more info appears to be state/District Court-specific; for me, it's lvnvclassactionsettlementnj.com/ and notes that neither LVNV nor Pinnacle was licensed under the New Jersey Consumer Finance Licensing Act. This website also has documents available for viewing/download. And there is also a toll-free number(noted on the postcard) you can call. Here's a photo of the back of the postcard (idk why it's insisting on posting sideways):
