Looking for advice on rebuild/PFD.

Hi all. I've been lurking around reading tons of posts about rebuilding, and benefiting greatly. Thanks to everyone for their knowledge! But I think I've plateaued and reached the stage where I need some advice on my exact situation.

I've been working on getting some collections removed via various methods. First seeing if anything could be recalled to the OC and removed, and then with the PFD method. Luckily, I have had success with removal of 3 of my 8 collections that appear on my 3B report. Nearly everything is medical or a direct result of medical issues. Some are credit card charge offs due to laying all of my living expenses on them during unpaid FMLA leave that didn't qualify for disability payment.

One removal was the result of a PFD letter, one I paid directly to the OC with the rest of the balance I owed them and it was automatically removed, and one small one I paid in full and the agency removed it because of their policy.

Now I'm looking at dealing with the rest and I'm stumped. Here are the items I need to work on:

1.) $13 balance with State Collection Service Inc.
2.) $844 balance with LTD Acquisitions LLC
3.) $528 balance with Distressed Asset Portfolio III, LLC; serviced by Unifund CCR LLC
4.) $361 balance with Collection Bureau of America
5.) $937 balance with LVNV Funding LLC/ Resurgent Capital Services

I sent PDF letters to 2 through 5. (I'll get to 1 next.) Certified mail with return receipt.

Unifund (3) responded as if it was a debt verification request, which it was not. I'm not sure how to proceed with them. Send another PFD with a higher settlement offer? Change the template of my PDF letter? Offer to PIF? Give up on PDF completely?

LTD and LVNV sent settlement offers with no mention of delete. My understanding is that they are very hard/impossible to get PDF from. Should I just take the settlements? It's a pretty good savings with the lump sum option they gave and I could manage them without hurting my budget. I would really like them deleted, but if that's not possible I can take my lumps on these two I guess.

No response from CBA yet, but I just recently got notice they had received my letter so I'm just waiting.

Now for 1. The balance used to reflect higher because there was an actual bill attached. I paid the OC normally, not realizing it was supposedly in collections and went on my merry way. Now having pulled my reports and seeing it on there I realized they had a different amount listed than what was owed to the OC. I assume it's fees or interest of some sort. I don't know how to approach this one. I will gladly pay the $13 if they remove it, but I've known people who have dealt with them before and they are incredibly hard to work with. Should I send a PFD letter as my next step? (Disputing didn't work.)

I would greatly appreciate any suggestions, advice, or opinions. And especially any personal experiences with these particular CAs.

Never heard of these guys except LVNV. Your right about them. They dont budge. For $13 it will quit updating each month is the main thing along with the others. Any collections is better off PIF rather than setteled for less when it comes time to apply for credit. It shows you paid your debts and moved on. Good luck on your GW letters. Welcome to the forums.

Re: Looking for advice on rebuild/PFD.

Thanks for your feedback!

I'm hoping I might have a chance to dispute and get the $13 one removed because it was related to my insurance messing stuff up... I can still probably do that once I pay it as well. I guess I will have to dig around and see if I can find more about their policy.

I will take the benefits of PIF into account, thank you! The one I got successfully PFD accepted a settlement, but agreed to completely remove it. Hopefully a few of the others will play ball, but LVNV I may PIF just to get it dealt with. Hopefully can work it into the budget if I can save on others with a settlement.
