Re: Mediation Recovery Center up to no good!

I wasn't calling you a fool and paying your debts is always a good thing, even if it was out of your control. I was posting for the benefit of others because that company will scam people. They aren't even licensed in IL and changed their name recently to skirt the law.

Since we were talking about credit and how to improve it. Do you think a credit repair place is worth the money or is it better to do it yourself.  I was thinking Lexington Law or credit Biz

Companies like LL, will do the very thing you are against. They'll dispute everything, paid or unpaid, with the hopes to get it off. First off, you can do that for free youself vs. paying $50-$100+ to do it, and their methods are questionable. There are safer, more legit ways of fixing your credit and they only cost a stamp:

Common Abbreviations

Credit Scoring 101 - great for knowing what is in your credit score and to see how your score is impacted.

What Steps Do I Take - great for learning the repair process.

and Example letters - PFDs, GWs, DVs, etc.

They never told me it was on my credit. I asked them if it was on my credit and they said no. I found it on my credit listed by the Providian as a chargeoff from 2004. I talked  to a guy named Lee and asked if they didnt report it then why is it showing as a chargeoff and he said that would have been  from providian. He said they do not report t because they dont report at all to the credit people. I then asked if it would help my fico score and he said "no"  because they have nothing to do with credit reporting. I decided to pay because i did have the card and call me dumb but I think if you have a bill you should pay it. I cant stand watching people make the decisions of just walking away from their debt and think since it wont help credit wize then why pay it. My friend for example was a boat load upside down on his house so he decided to walk away and not take the loss. Nothing in his life changed except he felt like he was getting screwed because his house lost so much value. The mortgage payment never changed and he even got a raise at work so why didnt he continue to pay what he agreed to? It was because of a finaciual adviser told him he would be better off to walk away. Just watch and I bet forclosures are going to go through the roof because others are also getting the advice to walk away or buy a rental and move to the rental then foreclose on your first home. (that was the advice given to him) I think that is fraud. I think the company was completly honest with me about my account  and if I am a fool for paying my bill then I would rather be a fool then someone who works the system to get out of paying.

I agree with your disgust.  I am totally disgusted by people doing this. You buy high - this is what happens.  Keep paying your mortgage and when the housing prices go back up I guess you can feel better at the end of the day.  But why not just enjoy the simple fact that you are a homeowner, that you CHOSE to live in this house and buy this house for the price you signed up for.  It's not like banks came around and changed the price or your payment.   I remember back in 2008 when the houses were off their rockers in terms of how much they cost.  And I felt like crap back then because I knew I would NEVER be able to afford to own a home.  But I sucked it up and now things have changed personally for me financially, and market-wise.  Now I can afford a house and the payment, and if the market goes down even farther I will be thrilled that I have my OWN HOME until I drop dead.

People are asking me if I "feel bad" for the people who lost their house (the house I am buying).  NO I DO NOT.  They bought this house in 1993 for 133K and in May of 2011 they owed 243 and lost it.  Did I tell them to keep refinancing and get themselves in over their head? No I did not. That was their personal choice.

+1!  Good for you...  Yep, I got a screaming deal on my house too; a short sale.  I don't feel the least bit bad.  I was able to help a guy avoid foreclosure and get a great deal on a home for my family.

I always thought collection letters *ALWAYS* contain your personal information (SSN, employer) to confirm you owe the debt.

Re: Mediation Recovery Center up to no good!

About how many years does it take for the courts to reject/deny requests for salary garnishment and/or  lawsuits on bad credit cards and/or loans?
