Medical Collections Question

Re: Medical Collections Question

Just wanted to put my 2 cents in here. My doctors are connected to the hospital here and when I get a bill it is always from a billing service. So what you might have here is not a CA....it might just be the office that handles the bills from the ER.

Re: Medical Collections Question

So just send a payment to the OC?  The OC in this situation is the billing service, Temple Emergeny Physicians. I am afraid that when I called earlier today I screwed it up, because I asked the lady if I could pay them, and she said no, that I would have to pay the CA who is Financial Control Services. I am afraid she took notes on my account!!

I will try sending the payment with the letter format you posted on the thread earlier.  Did you say to not put the restrictive endorsement on the check?  Let had said that when he called earlier, the lady informed him all they do when they receive payments that are already in collections, they just forward them to the CA. So I definitely do not want to do that.

HappyDays,

Thanks for the input.  The OC that I am referring to in this situation is the office that bills for the hospital and they are no longer handling the account.  Finance Control Services is the CA. I have had no contact with them at this point. Rec'd the dunning letter on the 15th of Dec 08.

I am wondering, if the OC does not cash the check, should I just ignore this until they DO report, that way I can follow the HIPAA process?

Then yet another question is born, (good lord!) Smiley Happy

Let say months from now it is being reported. I send the Pre-Hipaa dispute to the cra cm. Wait until they delete or verify. Then send the HIPAA letter to the OC w/the check?

Re: Medical Collections Question

Happydays--  that is what they told me when I called, that they handled all the billing for ER doctors. So do I send the payment to them even though they told me they would just in turn send it to the collection agency??

Re: Medical Collections Question

Let-

Is your medical collection being reported to the CRA's yet?

In my case, for the two that are NOT reporting, I am going to let them go until they DO report, that way I can follow the HIPAA process and have a better chance of getting them off of my reports rather than paying them and having them being reported as a PAID COLLECTION. Since the OC will not accept payment I feel like this is the smartest way to go about it. (why can't they just accept the dang money and get over it????) If they want it this way...fine, so be it, but they are sure as heck not getting my money any sooner.

Re: Medical Collections Question

Yes, mine are already reported to the CRA's.  Believe me if I didn't have these medical collections I would only have 2 baddies on my report, one which is going to fall of 12/2009.  I've learned, since my kids are always sick,Smiley Sad, poor things- we are always at the Dr's or Er, that if you pay something every month, or when ever you get paid, that they work with you.  At least that has been my experience.  I just want them off my credit history!!!

Re: Medical Collections Question

Oh, then all you need to do, is send the "Pre-HIPAA" dispute letter (remember on your own stationary, with purple or teal italic font) to each of the CRA's it is being reported to.  Once they come back verified, send the HIPAA letter to the OC w/ a check w/ the restrictive endorsement on the back.  I can't do that because mine are NOT reporting yet.  Don't even mess with the OC or the CA at ALL.
