Medical Debt Question

I have a medical bill that was added to my cr a couple months ago from with a date of service of 1/14/11 for $375.00. I filed a complaint with CFPB and the debt was deleted from cr but I received a bill from Synerprise Consulting Service for the bill.

On the date of service my daughter (the patient) was covered under state medicaid insurance (Soonercare) and I don't know if the oc submitted it for payment or not.  I called Soonercare and they said they cannot pay a claim that old and I am liable for it. My 30 days for debt validation is up in a few days so I'm wondering what I should do. I definitely don't want this to be added back to my cr as I'm in the process of trying to qualify for a mortgage loan.

Re: Medical Debt Question

You have the option of sending a DV, or you can negotiate a payment now before they report it. If its paid before its reported it will almost alway stay unreported.

Re: Medical Debt Question

A DV, if timely, will invoke a cease collection bar.

It will not compel their sending any validation.  They can choose to cease continued collection activities, and not respond.

It you wish quick resolution with no credit reporting, then I would suggest making a pay for not reporting offer.
