...so I'm assuming it has been sold to NCO. They have called numerous times. I don't have the $ to pay in full.

  1. I should just leave alone for now?
  2. Also, is NCO good at sueing like Cap 1?

Now I also have a medical account in collections and I have NO idea from where it came. I am willing to PIF but I'm scared on how to proceed.

  1. Should I go through the HIPPA process or just do an PIF letter?
  2. Also how do I find out who they are without "disturbing or messing up" the account?

Re: Multiple Questions? Cap 1, Medical Collection

I don't know if you found the answer somewhere else, but in my opinion for the medical collection and you have the money now, I would send a DV letter. I have no idea how the HIPPA process works but you can find some info on the boards here to direct you.

I had a collection on my reports for a medical debt of $20 once. I disputed online with the CRA's and it was gone. It was most definately not mine. I may not have done it properly, but it worked. I would say first step, since you'll be opening the door, just send a DV. Get something from the CA, and if it's not yours, come back and get some more advice on how to deal with it. Also, post to make sure you get the right steps when/if you PIF to get a PFD.

No advice on Cap 1. Sorrys! They are a thorn to me, too.

Google the "HIPAA letter process" or the "HIPAA letter program. Good Luck!

I tried understanding the HIPPA process before with little to no luck. I'll go at it again. Thanks for the info.

Re: Multiple Questions? Cap 1, Medical Collection

IMO I would definately use the HIPPA process, I had 10 paid Med collctions deleted in 2008 using HIPPA.

Starting Score: 377EQ/350EX/400TU As of 11/2011
Current Score: 620EQ/614EX/612TU As of 01/2013
Goal Score: 700+ across the boards
