So I've made a mistake, and I'm angry. My transmission went out, and while I work from home so it's not imperative that I get another car this second, I've been browsing. I was browsing Carmax and saw a section that said, "get pre-approved now, no hard credit check!" So I did it just to see. And they ended up doing 4 hard inquiries on my report. I only have a total of about 10 inquiries now, with some falling off later this year, but I'm very angry at that deceit. I was not ready to buy a car right now. Which means if I try to buy a car in a few months, it'll be hard pulls all over again. And I know mortgage companies do not want to see new inquiries within 9-12 months (meaning any new cards I get in my rebuild need to be soft pulls), so now I'm stressed about that. Oh well, it is what it is I guess, I must continue to move forward.
@Anonymous, do you have the option of working from home long enough to save up the necessary money to get your current vehicle the new transmission it so desperately needs? Taking that course of action my serve you the best in the long run.
Chapter 13:
I categorically refuse to do AZEO!

I do not, any leftover money I have needs to go towards paying down collections and saving for a home. It's not worth fixing anyways. It's 15 years old, 250,000 miles, I bought it 2 years ago from a friend for $900 and it's got a million other problems (tire rods are breaking, suspension system is shot, etc). Definitely not worth fixing.

That's rough, the years and the miles in and of themselves aren't show stoppers, but the condition definitely is.

You are welcome. When the time is right we will figure out how to make that happen. All I ask is that when you are in a position, that you 'pay it forward'.
Update: scores haven't changed a ton as the bureaus haven't really updated much yet.
However, I got approved for a $250 line of credit with Fingerhut. So now I have that and the $200 line of credit with my First Premiere card. Off to a decent start! Once my scores improve I'll look into getting a better unsecured card, or maybe one good store card I can use like Target to help on my rebuilding journey.
@Anonymous wrote:This forum is an absolute wealth of information and the members here have been truly amazing. I appreciate every single one of you. I'd like to keep my credit rebuilding journey in one thread so that others more experienced can give me advice and tips as I better myself and my credit. I'll list out my scores and everything in collections, CO's, active, etc. I'd love any and all input as I continue on my rebuild.
My goal: my apartment lease ends in May of next year, with a 3 month non-lease grace period (meaning I can stay and pay month to month till August if needed), and my goal is to fix my credit and buy my first starter home. I'm 36, I work a full-time job, I'm also in college working on a business degree, and I'm tired of living in a concrete jungle. I want a home with the yard my dog deserves.
I don't have a ton of money to throw at these, so I'm working overtime at work when possible (I work remotely, truck is broken down now, hoping to get better credit and finance something later in the year), however I am setting up 1-2 payment plans as a time, so I can make smaller payments towards them. Settling for smaller amounts when possible, such as Discover.
As of today on 7/9/21, I have the following:

OPEN ACCOUNTS:
- Student loans: $38k; all in good standing
- Firestone: $1k, opened 4 years ago, never used it, lost the card long ago, yet just realized yesteday the account is still open and reporting as good standing each month. Company refuses to send replacement card (no idea why, I may try again) but I'll probably never use it anyways. So I'm letting to ride.
- First Premier: $300. Just opened on 7/8/21
Will edit and update as my journey continues!
@Anonymous do you mind sharing how you disputed with Debt Recovery Solutions for removal off your reports. Currently have a collections on my EQ from them. Was it removed because thw $430 from loan by phone was deemed to be invalid? Thanks.
@AnonymousWhen you see an old thread. Click on the name. @Anonymous hasnt posted on this thread since the last time she was here on 07/21and hasnt posted since. So we'll never know the answer if it was actually deleted or reinserted. You can start your own thread and see what others can do for you. I dont remember seeing them PFD.
Yep I have a 4 year old Cap1 charge off with PR and Cap1 still approved me for 2 cards.
