My T-Mobile CA changed to new CA

What is the best option out of 2 scenarios to remove the collections account from my credit reports.

I have a T-mobile bill for 1000$ since February of 2018 and is reported to collections. It is being currently reported as Derogatory marks in my credit reports by 'XXX.' (Original Creditor Name as T MOBILE USA).
Now, there is this new collection agency named 'YYY' called me on 10/31/2018 and said they have this account now. I confirmed this with T-mobile and they confirmed this new 'YYY' is assigned to collect the debt. T-mobile also confirmed that I can pay T-Mobile directly or to the 'YYYY'.
The new YYYY called me and said that they would offer me a settlement for $500 and it is in the 30 days grace period (until Sep 26) of reporting it to the credit bureau's since they just got it on October 26,2018. They also asked me to dispute the collections account from previous collector to credit Bureaus and they should be removing it as the previous collector XXXX has nothing to do with the debt. I want it to be removed completely.
1. Should I take the settlement offer with new agency for 500$ as the debt will be settled and will not be reported to credit bureaus as per the agent. I asked them to send a written agreement or email which he said it will take some time. i also sent them PFD letter for settlement of debt. I doubt that these prople are making false promise about not reporting to credit bureaus once I pay the debt.
2. or is it better to pay full to T-mobile directly and i dont owe any of these CA and can dispute with credit bureaus?

Re: My T-Mobile CA changed to new CA

Once the debt has been recalled by the OC (T-Mobil), CA are not allowed to report the debt. Call convergent and tell them that the debt is no more owned by them and hence they should remove it from your credit file.

Now back to new CA and OC. Check with T if they are willing to recall the debt from new CA. If they are willing to do it, work out settlement with them. If not, call the current CA, accept their settlement offer only if they are willing to PFD (pay for delete). Chances are they might ask to PIF (pay in full) to get PFD. Do that, if they are willing to PFD.

Re: My T-Mobile CA changed to new CA

I received an email from the new CA stating below. You think this is good enough promise from the CA that they are not going to report to credit bureaus in future as they have not done it yet. I checked my credit reports last day from annualcreditreport.com and still the old CA shows in collection.

Letter from new CA:

This letter is to confirm the opportunity to resolve your account for less than the full Current Balance
(shown above) by paying the amount detailed below.
Pursuant to our agreement, payment in the amount of $XXX is due in our office.
If you did not establish this payment arrangement with XXXX Consultants, Inc., please contact us
using the number at the bottom of this letter. Calls to or from this company may be monitored or
recorded.
Payment of the offered amount will stop collection activity on this matter. We will inform T-Mobile once
the payment(s) is/are posted. Upon clearance of the payment(s) XXXX Consultants Incorporated will
remove the trade-line related to the T Mobile account as required by T-Mobile’s account return policy.
This is an attempt to collect a debt. Any information obtained will be used for that purpose. This
communication is from a debt collector.
Sincerely,
XXXX

If it were me, and I had something like this happen to me. As soon as the collection changes hands and before it reports, you pay off Tmobile in cash ASAP. Both collections go bye bye.

Re: My T-Mobile CA changed to new CA

Im guessing Convergent is the CA your referring to...

Your best bet is to PIF to Tmobile.... not take the offer..

Heres how to do it..

https://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Rebuilding-Your-Credit/Credit-Rebuild-2018-Help-with-FPB-and-Conver...

First id do is get the fundage and then call Tmo directly... Tmo will recall the debt from the CA "who my guess is probably" Convergent if you pay Tmo in full....

Tmo is usually a PFD but you wont get that part in writing... what happens is you pay Tmo... they will recall the debt.. Convergent will have to delete their reporting.... since its recalled and Tmo wont bother re-reporting the debt...

Least i can possibly help you get that one off quickly... Paying off TMO in this case is a good idea.. Pretty painless PFD

Re: My T-Mobile CA changed to new CA

Thanks Joltdude. The current collection agency which is reporting on my credit reports is Covergent and the new collection agency is Diversified consultants who made the offer as they are now assigned to collect the debt by T-Mobile. I spoke further with Diversified today (new CA) and asked them to agree to not to report to credit bureaus and got a reponse saying below:

‘’Thank you for contacting Diversified Consultants, Incorporated (DCI). We are unable to fill out the document attached or agree to the terms you are proposing.

Also, DCI is not the owner of the account, DCI is a 3rd party service provider for our client T-Mobile. We are required to report the true and accurate status of your account. Once your account has been settled, we are therefore required to report the account as settled in full. As of yet, our agency has not reported the account to the credit bureaus.’’

I also checked my equifax report today 11/01/2018 and the covergent is not showing any more in collections. Its gone. I am pretty sure the Diversified is gonna put it in collections and I am not sure when and I think it is a good time to settle this thing. Since they confirmed that they gonna report as settled in full even if i paid them as per their offer. I would pay T-Mobile directly.

I dont believe T-Mobile will be giving any written agreement as per the link you provided. Hoping for the best and I will update the post as things goes.

Yes I have settled it with Diversified (new CA) and the Covergent (old reporting agency) collection was removed from all of my credit reports.
