NCO Financial

Hello! Does anyone know what banks NCO Financial collects for?? I have them calling and leaving me voice mails just about every other day. They are not listed as a creditor on any of my three credit reports so I am a bit confused as to why they are trying to contact me.  And no, I will NEVER call them back to find out Smiley Very Happy, you guys are my only hope Smiley Happy  Thanks!

Re: NCO Financial

They have contacted me in the past concerning capital one.  It was a debt past SOL so I didn't hear much.  Good luck!

Re: NCO Financial

I have NCO calling me as well but my answering machine doesn't accept messages (and I have yet to figure out how to change that). i know that I have a CO for Capital One that has not come close to SOL, but I am trying to save the money so that I can DV them.

I wish you luck!

Re: NCO Financial

Thank you for your responses!  I actually did have a Capital One Bank account that I closed on my own years ago. Zero balance, never late and never in collections. How strange for them to be calling me.

Re: NCO Financial

NCO collects for a little bit of everybody from banks to book clubs and beyond.  They're a JDB, so there's a good chance the account for which they're trying to contact you isn't even yours.

You might consider:

calling them from an untraceable number, such as a "throw-away" cell phone

answering, if you're home when they call, don't answer any questions, simply ask for the information on the alleged account, their address, the rep's name, then tell them to contact you in writing re: the account, as you don't believe it's yours. I believe they're required to contact you in writing within 5 days of speaking with you

DV them with the info received from them

Often, when they realize they can't sucker you into giving them immediate payment over the phone, they will leave you alone.  If not, you have their info and can go through the steps to DV and, if necessary ITS on violations.

Just my opinion, I'm certainly nobody's expert.  This is one method I've used to make sure my phone rings less often than it used to.  Every time I send a letter to a CA, I make sure it says "DO NOT CALL MY HOME, ONLY COMMUNICATE WITH ME IN WRITING".

Re: NCO Financial

NCO is a CA on my account....the OC was Pennsylvania American Water Co.
Its status is paid collection account...falls off 07/2011....I don't remember paying them specifically but I'm sure I did and probably because I couldn't get a new Water utility account without paying this first, I dunno, I moved in 07/04 and didn't need to get water in my name again till 2006. EQ says my DOFD:07/04 and apparently they were assigned: 10/04 and I paid 05/2006.

Smiley Sad I'm gonna work up an approach for requesting GW from them, who knows maybe I'll get lucky and someone at NCO will delete it.

Try them via email ~ do a forum search on here for the NCO email addresses.  One of the folks is named Lisa, another is named Mike. I think if I give them to you in a post, I'll be in violation, sorry...

Re: NCO Financial

NCO doesn't collect for just banks........as mentioned, they collect for everybody and his brother.

They get a lot of medical, they have a medical division. I know they also get CenturyTel accounts.

Be watching in the mail for them. If they called, they should be sending you a letter very soon. Watch closely, some CA will purposely make their mail to appear as junk mail so you'll throw it out and go on.

Re: NCO Financial

Since they have been sued I have had luck with NCO

I had emailed them about an account listed twice on

my CR and a couple days ago recieved a letter in the

mail stating that they had contacted all the CRB's that

they do business with and the accounts with my SSN have

been removed.

They also said that all information for the OC would be

forwarded to me for verification.
