Good Morning Everyone!
For those of you who have collection(s) from National Recovery Agency, who have repeatedly told me that they do not do PFDs, and you are having issues with negotiations, I wanted to share with you that I was able to dispute the validity of the debt through the BBB. The reason I took this route is because I had sent them a letter for debt verification CMRRR. I received a letter back from them, however, it was a generic response that provided no proof that I actually own the debt. Not only that, they had also put in the letter that "since I am disputing the debt, they will make a notation on the account with the CRAs stating that." It was not a dispute that I had sent, it was a debt verification. Needless to say, this had me a bit irritated so I decided to contact the BBB. Below is how I went about it.
Complaint sent to BBB 8/10/12
Recently I have tried to obtain a mortgage loan. I was denied due to a collection on my credit report from National Recovery Agency in Harrisburg, PA. I never received a dunning letter from this agency prior to them reporting to the credit bureaus. I sent them a debt validation letter, to which I received a very basic response that still doesn't prove that the debt is mine. I can't contact the original creditor to which I allegedly owed this debt because they are no longer in business. I do not believe I owe this debt and the methods of which I have tried to get validation (phone call and debt validation letter sent) have not proven that I owe this debt. As a consumer, I feel that this agency at least owes me the consideration of showing solid proof that the alleged debt is mine. I appreciate any assistance you may offer in reference to this matter.

So, if all else fails, you can always open a complaint with the BBB as a last resort to resolve a debt for which you cannot get proper validation. I think I read on here a while back that someone had success with this method with this very collection company. Just thought I'd pass along the advice ![]()
